"Fool's Errand"
a poem
fateful fortitude lay ahead brothers before battle united under one goal rows of strewn soldiers sparrow sees silver sea similar sentinels reflect us donning darkness as cloth our emperors evade war yet the crown clings to it villagers vying for peace huddling in family hearths prey in a lion’s den conquest has endured eons such tradition won’t cease kings are always fools seeking the endless errand

Conquest has endured aeons. What a line. This is excellent.
